Woolacombe voted top beach in Britain, again!

It’s official, we’ve got the loveliest beach in the UK as decided by visitors on TripAdvisor for the second year running!

The award winning beach right on our doorstep boasts three miles of golden sand and an endless expanse of sparkling coast which has it fighting off the competition in the UK’s best beaches list.

Nestled between Morte Point and Baggy Point, Woolacombe beach has something for everyone it would seem, and this extends to every season. Whether visiting in winter, summer or somewhere in between, each month creates its own magic on this unique part of the coast.

TripAdvisor reviews and ratings have seen people raving over this gorgeous beach time and time again, so we thought we’d share with you some of the reasons that people love it so!

Features here are abundant and provide hours of simple happiness for our visitors new and old. Here are some of the things that make people smile on the lovely Woolacombe beach.

Stretch of sand

The clean and golden sand here is a real treat, whatever your chosen beach activity. Whether simply relaxing on the beach and soaking up some rays, or if your little one has a bucket and spade with the dream of building a fortress, the long stretch of soft sand provides no shortage of opportunities to sit and relax, play or simply enjoy the atmosphere during the vibrant summer months.

Alternatively, if you’re feeling particularly energetic then this three-mile stretch is also great for a nice long walk or jog from point to point! The beach hosts a plenitude of sports and activities during all seasons, and it’s interesting to see people in action with varying elements being thrown their way.

Sea and surf

Rolling and unbroken surf attracts surfers from near and far. Woolacombe beach has been a popular surf spot since the sixties, and earnt a blue flag award for the water quality and facilities here. Throughout the year surfers of all levels, from beginner to expert, head to this part of the coast for surfing events and competitions – making this a great location for spectators as well. RNLI lifeguards man Woolacombe beach during the summer months making the beach a perfect place to start learning if you haven’t already!

Beach huts

The iconic and colourful beach huts line the beach, painting a truly picturesque scene that captures the essence of a summer holiday and trip to the seaside. The huts also provide a desirable little retreat for people to escape the heat of the sun and the bustle of beach activities. We love to see people relaxing in their deck chairs and reading a book, or gathering with their neighbours for a bite to eat and spot of socialising!

Clifftop walks

If time on the beach gets a bit much, then there’s always the option to stroll along its backdrop. Hugged by sandy hills and the Woolacombe Downs, people can be seen strolling along the length of Woolacombe beach and absorbing the unique views as they go.

Whether down on the sand or up in the hills, Woolacombe beach evokes a sense of freedom and collective happiness among its visitors, thanks to its sheer vastness and beautiful conditions – and to top it off we offer accommodation that overlooks this incredible place. We welcome more people to come and experience this for themselves.
