What’s on in September & beyond?

Summer’s still here! Officially, Summer really is still here until 21st September and Summer’s final flourish gives us a wealth of things to do in Woolacombe. Oh, the rest of the season looks pretty good too. So, what’s on in Woolacombe?

There are three miles of gorgeous golden sands and salty surf spray that make Woolacombe Beach one of the best in Britain!

Our outdoor pools remain open until Sunday 8th September, just as the evenings start to get chilly and our lifeguards head back to university, after an amazing Summer spent with us and our guests.

Our indoor pools all remain open for the rest of the season, of course, as do the waterslides.

So, from Summer’s final flourish to Halloween and Guy Fawkes night, what have we got going on in Woolacombe? Loads! And, loads more in the local area; including an amazing travelling fair that meets the Barnstaple Carnival for a fantastic weekend of fun!

On Our Parks

It’s business as usual across our Parks. Outdoor pools until 8th September, indoor pools and waterslides until the end of the season. Entertainment both day and night, including pantomimes, kids shows, live music and comedy shows. Bingo, of course!

Pubs, bars and eateries abound, as well as blockbuster cinemas showing the latest movies. Adventure golf, tennis, soft play areas, outdoor gym, climbing walls and amusement arcades. We also have an outdoor ranger who will take the little ones on a nature adventure, learn to build a fire or go bug hunting!

If you’re a little more adventurous, and for a little fee, we have a unique Surfing Simulator, Segways, Zorbing, High Ropes Course and even Retro Ten-Pin bowling!

On The Road Music Festival

On The Road Music Festival 2019, Braunton

Reef (place your hands) are headlining this annual music event in Braunton, North Devon.

Broadland’s farm are hosting this Summer’s final flourish event for the 3rd year running, very family friendly with live music throughout the day – a range of tickets available

Sea Ilfracombe, Maritime Festival, Ilfracombe

Argh, me hearties, here be treasure!

Celebrating the sea, and all that sale upon her. Ilfracombe hosts this entertaining mini festival, comprising sandcastle competitions, treasure hunts, stalls and activities.

Pirates will be running wild in the streets and mermaids will lure you to share a drink or two! Expect lots of local fresh food and drink and smiles all around.

Feeling fishy? Equipment, bait & tackle are all provided free of charge. The whole Sea Ilfracombe festival is, in fact, free to everybody.

Barnstaple Fair and Carnival, Barnstaple

The biggest fair in the Southwest and held in the town since 1931, with the fastest and most thrilling rides, attractions, fairground activities and food! Win a goldfish, spin on the eggs, blast around on the dodgems and ride a big wheel.

Candyfloss, toffee apples and palm readers form a magical place as the nights draw in – the Barnstaple Fair cannot be missed.

The Carnival always takes place on the final day of the fair, with two processions of floats and amazing costumes, the crowning of a Carnival Queen and a spectacular firework display – attracting up to 20,000 people every single year, a great way to spend your Summer’s final flourish.

Learn to Surf, Woolacombe Surf Centre

Surf lessonsKayaking and Coasteering are just some of the many water-sport and coastal activities available in Woolacombe.

The Woolacombe Surf Centre are second to none, with amazing and well-trained instructors with plenty of experience. Come off-season and enjoy quieter waves to practice on.

They also offer a range of equipment hire for all Watersports activities, no matter the weather.

Military Choir

The Military Wives Choir, Isaac Hall, Braunton

We have a huge military heritage in North Devon, and we always like to support our Armed Forces. An evening of music and song, marking 80 years since the outbreak of World War II and 75 years since the D-Day landings. The Military Wives Choir are at the heart of the military community in Chivenor, close to Braunton.

The Chivenor Military Ladies Choir feature alongside the Concert Band of the Royal Air Forces Association.

Sea Safari, Ilfracombe

Explore our stunning North Devon coastline in comfort & style, ride with porpoises and dolphins, check out the many hidden coves.

Smugglers caves and lighthouses are just some of the highlights. Ride out to Lundy island, or choose a fishing trip. Check them out on Facebook.

It may already be a little wet, so you won’t mind getting a little wetter – pop down to Ilfracombe for a sea adventure!

The Big Sheep

Meet the animals, stroke the animals, feed the animals. Sheep, goats, dogs, geese, ducks, piglets and maybe the odd llama!

Animals and animal themed rides, pedal-powered swans (check out the fish) and massive trampolines – there’s so much to do at this quirky theme park, no matter your age.

All weather rides and attraction with the bonus of an in-house brewery! The Big Sheep welcomes the whole family.

Things go bump in the night and get totally bat-ty for one weekend. Our Parks turn into a freaky-fun-fest with family activities, gloriously gory.

We will have a Trick or Treat Trail and Witch Hunt, UV party dances and ghost stories, ghoulish arts & crafts and horror makeovers & face-painting. We also have a Freak Unique teen costume workshop and Little Monsters fancy dress parade.

There are fancy dress competitions for all ages, Spooky Spectacular ShowTime and a stunning firework display to end the season!
