It can sometimes be difficult to keep little people engaged when on holiday. After all, us parents are an embarrassing bunch who would rather just sit around on the beach snacking and chatting. Where’s the fun in that?
To keep those little faces smiling, here are four of Devon’s best children’s events activities this Summer.
Powderham Castle, 23rd – 28th July
Storyteller and author Clive PiG wants you to join him on a gentle stroll around the grounds of beautiful Powderham Castle. Along the way, he’ll bust out some enchanting tales and magical myths all from the Story Sack he carries on his back. Through masks and music, puppetry and song, your children (and you) will hear all about laughable legends and fabulous folk stories. All from Clive’s imagination to your ears making this one of this July’s top children’s events.
BIAZA’s Big Bug Bonanza
Becky Falls, 24th July – 3rd September
Throughout the Summer Holidays, take your small people on a journey through a bug’s life. Becky Falls, voted the most beautiful place in Devon, will be holding loads of fun and engaging activities to raise awareness of how fascinating creepy crawlies really are. The event is being run with the British Association of Zoos and Aquariums and wants to get visitors excited about the tiny insect world. Kids will have the opportunity to take part in creative projects as well as enjoying pop-up bug encounters.
The Fairy Special
Seaton Tramway, every Friday in August
All aboard the tramway and embark on a journey through the fantastical. The Fairy Tram Ride will allow guests to stretch out their wings and brush up on spell casting skills as you are taken on a journey with the Fairy Godmother to the Fairy Kingdom. You will enjoy a tea party and enjoy music, stories and a variety of activities. All with a sprinkling of fairy dust. Children will also receive a fairy goody bag. To avoid disappointment, remember to book in advance.
The Fun Kitchen
Pecorama, Thursday 17th August
If you have a mini budding chef in your midst, this is the perfect day for them to learn about baking in a fun environment. This amazing and hands-on day will give children the opportunity to create amazing baked goods with the help of a professional. All ingredients and equipment are provided. Places are on a first-come first-served basis with limited space. Registration for The Fun Kitchen at Pecorama will take place on the day.
